fredthebear: Students of Queen's Gambit opening theory know that 3...Bf5? (a reversed Sarratt/London System a move behind) is unsound. White's general QGD structure is the proper way to go. 5.cxd5 would be winning for White, while 5...QxBf4 is a way out for Black.

To be clear, the solid Slav Defense proper is certainly sound for Black. 2...Bf5 the Baltic Defense is playable but risky. 3...Bf5? will land Black in trouble if White plays in Queen's Gambit style on the queenside.

The zwischenzug 11.cxb7 is well-done! When threatened with capture -- don't automatically take flight. Consider a counterattack against an opposing unit of equal or greater value; in this case the capture of the queen for promotion to a new queen w/checkmate!!
