Oct-12-15  Moonwalker: Nice and easy. However, I can't help but think white wasn't in too bad a position before the blunder 27.Bg5??
Oct-12-15  stst: 27.........Qf1+
28.RxQ (no other) RxR#

<But if White moves first, also v easy - simply BxQ , then either NxB or RxB, White prevails ----just for fun.....>

Oct-12-15  stacase: That took about two seconds.
Oct-12-15  HowDoesTheHorsieMove: That's about as easy as it gets. Still, I claim that nothing is <too> easy for Monday.
Oct-12-15  morfishine: Too easy
Oct-12-15  Olsonist: That is one boring Monday.
Dude had already resigned.

chessgames.com: We believe it's important to have one day a week where the puzzle is both solvable and instructive to the rank beginner. Don't worry, we promise you'll be begging for mercy by the time Sunday comes.

Bubo bubo: White has neglected back rank safety, and Ng4 denies the king his <luft>: 27...Qf1+ 28.Rxf1 Rxf1#
Oct-12-15  zb2cr: As <patzer2> writes, this is reminiscent of many positions from "Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess". 27. ... Qf1+; 28. Rxf1, Rxf1#. White must have seen this after making the horrible blunder 27. Bg5?? and resigned before Black could make his move.
Oct-12-15  Oxspawn: <Chessgames We believe it's important to have one day a week where the puzzle is both solvable and instructive to the rank beginner> Depends which rank you begin on, really.
I find the puzzles divide into three:
1. Those I can do "Ludicrously easy, what a pathetic puzzle?"

2. Those I can't do: "Nobody could get that. Why do they make them so hard? Everyone else must be cheating."

3. Those I think I can do: "Well that was easy. Oh. Didn't see my queen was unprotected. They just set out to trip us up? B------s"

But I always come back... so maybe you are doing something right.

Oct-12-15  agb2002: Black has a knight for a bishop.

White threatens 28.Bxf6 and 28.hxg4.

Black wins with 27... Qf1+ 28.Rxf1 Rxf1#.

Oct-12-15  dfcx: white forgot his weak back rank and played 27.Bg5?? allowing mate

27...Qf1+ 28.Rxf1 Rxf1#

Oct-12-15  Once: Chocolate bars get smaller as you get older.

Jeans and belts shrink.

Foreheads get bigger.

Music videos and movies get louder, but the conversations around us get harder to hear.

Opinions get crankier.

Friends and family move further and further away.

And chessgames Monday puzzles get easier.

Time passes and little by little we all change. We don't notice it because it happens gradually. And while we might think it is the world around us changing, some of the change is closer to home.

Oct-12-15  schweigzwang: <we promise you'll be begging for mercy by the time Sunday comes>

Thursday. But let me enjoy the moment.

Oct-12-15  thegoodanarchist: In order to claim you solved this puzzle, you must have decided that White resigned without actually waiting for Black's 27th move.

Thus, if one assumed that Black did actually play his 27th move, this becomes (technically) a very difficult Monday puzzle, if you see what I mean :)

Oct-12-15  saturn2: Apart from allowing black the back rank mate white's play seems a little thoughtless to me.

At move 19 he does not take the rook BxRe8 although he could have. At move 20 were it was high time to play 20 h4 (preventing) 20...h4 he takes the rook.

Oct-12-15  kevin86: it looks like white moved and resigned before black made the obvious mate in two by 27...♕f1+ 28 ♖xf1 ♖xf1#
Oct-12-15  BOSTER: < CG: the time Sunday comes>. Why wait for Sunday, try this.
Fedoseev vs Vovk.
White to play 20.

Oct-12-15  YouRang: They don't come much easier than this.
Oct-12-15  psmith: This is too easy for Monday. It's a Noneday puzzle.
Oct-12-15  Chess for life: What psmith said.
Oct-12-15  whiteshark: <Michael>, we learn to do something by doing it. There is no other way.
Oct-12-15  The Kings Domain: Chessgames: It's good the puzzles are either easy or hard. Variety is the spice of life. :-)
Oct-12-15  Caissas Clown: <chessgames.com: We believe it's important to have one day a week where the puzzle is both solvable and instructive to the rank beginner. Don't worry, we promise you'll be begging for mercy by the time Sunday comes.>

Yes,agree with all that.Though I have been known to beg as early Wednesday !

Oct-12-15  Nullifidian: 27... ♕f1+ 28. ♖xf1 ♖xf1#
