Here Krush played 28.♕g6 but 28.♗xg7+ ♗xg7 29.♗f5+ ♔g8 30.♗e6+ ♖f7 31.♕xc7 is the start of a mate in 6.

fredthebear: Skilled use of the spearhead; queen makes use of support/interference of bishop and rook.

An alternative 33...Ke7 34.BxRe5 fxBe5 35.Qe6# is a Gueridon Mate (topped at both ends, no less). Of course, Black is not forced to recapture the bishop, but White is still having all the fun.

Lovely selection of combinations from <WTHarvey> today. Thank you!!

WTHarvey: Thank you <fredthebear> for your compilation of Gueridon Mate examples at Polo vs Pasqualini, 1923 with a handy supplement by <FSR>.

Very nice!

fredthebear: You're welcome, although <FSR> did the bulk of the work there. I need to put that game Polo vs Pasqualini, 1923 in my instructional collections and king pawn repertoires.

Me thinks Ariella Adames Rojas above surely saw the finish somewhere toward the end and was nice enough to play along into the complete mate. So thanks to A.A. Rojas as well.

master8ch: 28.Bxg7+ followed by 29.Bf5+ (no matter how Black captures at g7) wins the Black Queen or forces mate.
