May-18-07  luzhin: Black leaves his Queen en prise for seven moves. I hereby declare this game the Lake Hopatcong Immortal.
Feb-05-12  adbat: and I give my vote
Apr-18-24  AnotherNN: I think at move 33 Black could have played 33 … Ra2, then if 34. QxQ Black plays 34. … Ra1+, etc.
Apr-18-24  AnotherNN: I think at move 33 Black could have played 33 Ra2, then if 34. QxQ Black plays 34. Ra1+, etc.

  jffun1958: 32. ... Qg2 33. Qxg2 ??
is 2-mate:
33. ... Ra1+ followed by 34. R8a2#
This holds until 36. ... Bd6 (protecting the Black Q.) After 37. ... Be4 B has a forced mate in 4 (or mate in 5 with 40. Rd4):
37... Ra1+ 38.Qxa1 Rxa1+ 39.Kxa1 Be5+ (40.Rd4 Bxd4+) 41.Kb1 Qb2#
Apr-18-24  green ink: @AnotherNN: 33. - Ra2?? loses to 34. QxQ+ RxQ 35. Be4
Apr-18-24  goodevans: Pun and game both out of the top drawer.
Apr-18-24  goodevans: <AnotherNN: I think at move 33 Black could have played 33 … Ra2, then if 34. QxQ Black plays 34. … Ra1+, etc.>

That might have worked except 34.Qxg2+ is check so 34...Ra1+ would not have been a legal move.

offramp: Oscar Tenner was <terrible at Tenable>.
Apr-18-24  KnightOnTheRim: < goodevans: <AnotherNN: I think at move 33 Black could have played 33 … Ra2, then if 34. QxQ Black plays 34. … Ra1+, etc.> That might have worked except 34.Qxg2+ is check so 34...Ra1+ would not have been a legal move.>

But at move 32 ... Ra2 should work since 33 QxQ does not give check

Apr-18-24  mrknightly: Black sure turnbulled the game in his favor.
Apr-18-24  goodevans: <KnightOnTheRim: But at move 32 ... Ra2 should work since 33 QxQ does not give check>

32...Ra2? would also have been a huge mistake for reasons less obvious than 33...Ra2??

Sure, 33.Qxg2? would lose instantly but White has a neat alternative to save the game.

Apr-18-24  KnightOnTheRim: < goodevans: Sure, 33.Qxg2? would lose instantly but White has a neat alternative to save the game.> Does 33 Bc2 save the game? 33 ... Rxb2+ seems sufficient to win. It's not a mate, but is the mate in the game a forced line?
Apr-18-24  goodevans: After <32...Ra2?> the way to save the game for White is <33.Bxh7+!>, vacating d3 as an escape route for his K so that <34.Qxg2> is possible.

After that, Black has nothing better than <34...Rxg2 35.fxe7> with a roughly equal position.
