  Phony Benoni: Perhaps Reti could have played on, but he had started the tournament with seven straight losses and Duras was one of the leaders. I don't blame him one bit.

White is a pawn up. He would like to play Qc3 and ♙b5. The trouble is, he has a weak back rank.

Move 30 has just been passed and that might have been a time control, so Réti called it a day.

May-30-18  morfishine: It was around this time that Reti became frustrated with chess due to poor results. This tournament is a good example: 16 losses in 19 games (yikes!), 0 wins & 3 draws

  Honza Cervenka: 17.Ne5 or 17.h4 preventing 17...g5 were better choices.

After streak of seven losses it is quite understandable that Reti took a draw here but his final position is clearly superior a maybe even objectively won.
