Black mistakes were moves 25... (from better to equal), and 28. (from equal to worse/lost.)
The important difference is that after 25... Rxb3 26. Bc6 Rc8 27. Bd7 Rd8! 28. e6 fxe6 29. Bxe6+ Kh8 Black can answer to 30.Be7 with Rd2 and 31.c5?? loses to 31...Bd4+.

Before, Black could have reduced White's Bishop pair with 15...gxh6 16.Rxd1 Rd8.

Thank you to <Benzol> for providing us with an excellent tournament link, including photos of Richter vs. Alekhine, who finished second. Munich (1941)
