sachistu: Does anyone know what the 'G.' stands for in his name? In his book Versenysakk (1943), the name is listed as G.Rethy Pal. In Hungarian magazines like Magyar Sakkvilag, the name is also listed as G. Rethy Pal. It's common for the last name to be listed first in Hungarian chess literature, so Rethy Pal is easy to understand. Perhaps one of our Hungarian members can shed some light on this.
Nov-20-21  Alan McGowan: Gaige, in his Chess Personalia (1987), gives his full name as Gálfalvy Réthy, Pál, but indexes him under Réthy, Pál.

Magyar Saaktörténet, Vol. 4, chose to index him under 'G' as G. Réthy, Pál.
