Mar-06-04  Checkmate123: what is white doing? 5. b3?
Mar-28-04  bookter: Ummmm....wow. Here it is 2004 & I've been out of competitive chess since 1980, and I do a search for my own name 'Bookter' on Google and this pops up.... Floyd whipped my butt *good* as I recall. He's probably rated over 2000 now... I'd give a nut to see the notation for the games we played...Who ever heard of a tournament called 'Pfefferkorn' anyhoo?

PS: Requasiat en pace, Cliff. We hardly knew ya...

Mar-28-04  Lawrence: <bookter>, well, now with all these modern advancements like internet and CD's and Fritz and things you can get right back in again, OK?

You mean the worldfamous Lawrence Pfefferkorn Open in 1980? http://www.theopenfile.com/lessons/...

  tpstar: I think the best line against 3 ... d5!? is 4. ed Qxd5 5. Nc3 Qd6 6. Qe2, and the only way to save the e Pawn is 6 ... f6 (6 ... Bg4? 7. Qxe5+), then 7. d4 threatening 8. d5 plus 8. de and White is rolling.
May-23-04  Queen killer: I was on the white side of this once and 4Nxe5 is difficult to meet, because of the threat of 5Nxc6
Jun-28-04  ArturoRivera: 4.-exd5 Qxd5 5.-Nc3 and white is fine with more material and much more development.
Nov-16-04  rndapology: Heh...nice tale from Bookter here. I occasionally enter my name and the names of acquantances from middle school to see what has happened to them that would merit to be posted on the net. Interesting results occasionally.
Jan-28-05  GufeldStudent: I am sorry, but this game is just silly. Nxe5 and you are just up a pawn: Qg5 loses too much time.
Jan-28-05  GufeldStudent: Qg5 Nf3 (oddly enough Nxc6 does not work) Qxg2 Rg1 Qh3 ed5 and white is doing damn well.

An Englishman: Good Evening: I've googled some old friends and acquaintances just to see what I might see. The big surprise came last year, when I looked up a friend of my sister's, Paul Giamatti. He was doing all right for himself as an actor, and had starred in a little independent film on the verge of release.

The little independent film was "Sideways."

GrahamClayton: The winning player in this game is actually Bill Floyd, the president of the South Carolina Chess Association in the early 1980's.
Mar-29-12  Infohunter: Impressive though this win is, I am still not inclined to play this third move of Black's here.

louispaulsen88888888: hey Englishman. good evening. Sideways is that the movie where theze 2 dudes go on a little trip and one of them is about to get married and then he hooks up with Sandra Oh and things get complicated?

Mar-18-22  Messiah: Dear god, you shouldn't experiment this hard in the opening.
