Aug-27-08  mungono: Mikhadraw Taldraw, always the same thing. Vladidraw Drawnik's true teacher. And don't get me started on BorDraw GelDraw and all the other Draw-drawers...

chancho: At Linares 2004, Gazza donned his white cape and became Drawsparov.

11 draws in that tournament for the Beast of Baku.

Open Defence: does the Kasparov-Anand 1995 match still hold the record for most consecutive draws ?

chancho: <Open Defence> I don't know about the record. I noticed that there were 8 straight draws in that match, but in the 1927 Capa vs Alekhine match there were 8 consecutive draws from rd 13 to 20. I guess the record would be for most consecutive draws at the commencement of a match?

Yes, exactly. For consecutive draws overall the record is surely from Kasparov-Karpov I -- I think it was all draws from 9-27, then 32-47.

Open Defence: maybe it was for a 24 game match ? Karpov - Kasparov was probably the 1984 unlimited games one... of course that was a brilliant strategy from Kasparov.. I wonder how the "Drawniks" would have taken to that if the internet was as pervasive then as it is today

perfidious: <mungono: Mikhadraw Taldraw, always the same thing....>

While during his mature career there were a large number of pacific displays by Tal, he had already wrapped up this event, which explains the three brevities to conclude matters.
