Dec-23-21  mel gibson: A very easy Monday type puzzle.

Stockfish 14 says mate in 11:

30. Rxd5+

(30. Rxd5+ (♖d1xd5+
♗e6xd5 ♕f6-d6+ ♔d7-e8 ♕d6xd5 ♖g8-g6 ♕d5-f7+ ♔e8-d8 ♕f7-c7+ ♔d8-e8 ♗e5-d6 ♖g6xd6 ♕c7xd6 ♕a4-d1 ♕d6-e6+ ♔e8-d8 ♖f1xd1+ ♔d8-c7 ♕e6-d6+ ♔c7-c8 ♖d1-c1+) +M11/66 44)

Dec-23-21  landshark: 30.Rxd5+ just obliterates Black
...... Bxd5
31.Qd6+ Kc8
32.Qc7#

31.... Ke8
32.Qxe6+ Kd8
33.Qxg8+ K moves
34.Qxa8 is a trivial win. Did I overlook even better, like a mate?

30.... Kc6
31.Qxe6#

30.... Kc8
31.Qxe6+ Qd7
32.Qxd7#

I think maybe Friday we'll see the end of all this easy fun.

Dec-23-21  landshark: Oops -
In my analysis I hung my queen ):
No doubt I would have seen it OTB.

However - no solve for this shark

Dec-23-21  Brenin: Oops, I omitted typing 31 Qd6+ Ke8 before 32 Qxd5. The rest follows, as above. Clearly time for bed.
Dec-23-21  raymondhow: I got the first four moves, then played 34.Qxb7 seeing it would lead to massive material loss by black.
Dec-23-21  stacase: Well, I got every move except 35.Bd6 threatening mate. The initial 30.Rxd5+ took a few seconds to see, the next several moves were equally easy. I missed the 35.Bd6 just because I was greedy or on a roll or whatever. Bottom line here is as Wednesday puzzles go this was way too easy.
Dec-23-21  Lloyd Gross: <Brenin> I love your posts. Very helpful.
Dec-23-21  agb2002: White is two pawns down.

The black bishop stops Qd6+. Therefore, 30.Rxd5+ Bxd5 (else 31.Qxe6+ mates) 31.Qd6+ Ke8 (31... Kc8 32.Qc7#) 32.Qxd5 Rg6 (32... Rf8 33.Qe6+ and mate in two) 33.Qf7+ Kd8 34.Qxh7 (34.Bf6+ should be winning):

A) 34... Qe8 35.Qc7#.

B) 34... Re6 35.Qc7+ Ke8 36.Qf7+ Kd8 37.Qxe6 wins.

C) 34... Qc6 35.Rf8+ wins.

Dec-23-21  saturn2: Black cannot survive without massive damage 30.Rxd5 31 Qd6. I would even play this without calculating all the lines.
Dec-23-21  AlicesKnight: Found the right line again (probably my last success this week). The white B radiates influence.

Dec-23-21  Messiah: <scormus: What <Lloyd Gross> said!>

It was:

<<Brenin> I love your posts. Very helpful.>

Dec-23-21  Stanco: <landshark> if you play 32.Qe6+ I take 32...Bxe6. What do you play next?
Dec-23-21  nalinw: <stacase> and as Thursday puzzles go it is even easier! The only move that requires more than Tuesday vision is Bd6 with the mate on f8 .....
Dec-23-21  saturn2: < nalinw The only move that requires more than Tuesday vision is Bd6 with the mate on f8 .....>

It is not necessary to find 35.Bd6 For example 35.Qxh7 yields also a comfortable win.

Not true. 35.Qxh7 leads nowhere. I wonder how many of those saying this was easy found all the forcing variations out to mate. Don't believe you.

Dec-23-21  saturn2: <Tiggler Not true. 35.Qxh7 leads nowhere.> I dont see how black should defend the threats
36. Qf7 and 36.Qxg6 at the same time
Dec-23-21  Tiggler: 35... Rc6 and black has plenty of time to take care of everything.
Dec-23-21  Autoreparaturwerkbau: <Tiggler: 35... Rc6 and black has plenty of time to take care of everything.>

Your proposed line (35.♕xh7 ♖c6)

is forced mate in 8:

36.♕f7+ ♔d8 37.♕d5+

Hard to see how that is 'taken care of'. For white, maybe...

Dec-23-21  Tiggler: So instead of 36. Bd6, you have to find 38.Bd6 to get back to the same mate.
Dec-23-21  saturn2: <Tggler: 35. Qxh7 Rc6 36. Qf7+ Kd8 37. Qd5+ Ke8 38.Qf8+ Kc7. There is no mate>

As shown to you above by <Autoreparaturwerkbau> after 38.Bd6 there is mate. Or did you suppose one does not plsy Bd6 at move 38 because he did not play it at move 35?

By the way I dont think even grandmasters fully calculate this mate in 8. They just 'know' that 30.Rxd5 is a win with Q,R and B attacking the king in the middle.

Dec-23-21  Andrew Chapman: After 35..Qxh7, Qc6 needed looking at and turns out to be the least bad move according to an engine.
Dec-23-21  johnnydeep: Got it up to 31...Ke8 32.Qxd5, but wasn't sure how to go in for the kill after that.

eternaloptimist: This is the easiest Thursday puzzle that I can remember but I played 34.♕f8+ instead of ♕c7+. It still wins since there r multiple ways to win w/ white
