  alexrawlings: Wouldn't 26.. Nxf3+ have been better?

After 26.Ra1:

White threatens d3-d4-d5 kicking the knight and nomming on a7. Black will defend by bringing his queen to c8, as in the game, but the immediate ...Qd7 would hang the knight on g5. Hence 26...Nh3+, which is not an attacking move but rather a move played to bring the knight to a safe square with gain of time. Black must meet d3-d4 with ...Qc8.

If instead 26...Nxf3+ black has won a pawn but white responds with 27.Kf2 attacking the knight:

Now black has no time to save the knight (nor, for that matter, any safe squares for it.) Note that the black queen must also stay on the c7-pawn; something like 27...Qf6? (all discoveries are useless) falls to 28.b5 Na5 29.Rxa5 when the rook is immune due to Bxa7 with mate in four.

fredthebear: Another King's Indian Attack mislabel so prevalent whenever Bg2 is played.

This is a double king pawn opening, so forget the KIA! We have a C26 Vienna Game: R Mamedov vs Y Wang, 2016
