  Honza Cervenka: Very good game.
Dec-04-03  Catfriend: A splendid use of tactics both in the opening and in the endgame! I admit I didn't notice the winning 55.Kf3!! I think, though, Horwitz could do much better in the endgame. BTW, it's very nice to see e1=N+:)
And don't forget it's the quare the white monarch started from...
Jan-31-05  aw1988: I believe this is the game: http://chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp...
Mar-08-08  Knight13: I don't know if 22. Rxg6+ is good though.
Dec-19-08  just a kid: 22.Rxg6+ hxg6 23.Qxg6+ Qg7 and where does that leave White?
Dec-20-08  thebribri8: It leaves him in a lost position. His extra pawn would not be worth the rook to bishop advantage in the endgame.
Jan-02-11  Llawdogg: Wow! Brilliant win by Henry Bird. He sacrificed a bishop, then his queen, and finally a rook. Horwitz was overwhelmed by all these beautiful combinations and lost when he probably could have drawn. However, he played brilliantly too. He underpromoted to a knight to avoid checkmate and extend the game a bit further. Good game. Very nice.

wwall: Instead of 32...Kg7, Black may be winning after 32...Ke7 (going after that e-pawn). If 33.hxg6 hxg6 34.Rf7+ Ke6 35.exd6 Kxd6 36.Rxb7 Qxa2, and the endgame looks good for Black with queen + 3 pawns vs 2 rooks and pawn.

35...e4 looks like the losing move. Black had to move the queen to deliver check (and not 35...Qxa2? 36.Rh3+ Kg7 37.Rg3+ Kh7 38.Rf5 Kh6 39.Rf6+ Kh7 40.Rfg6 wins for White). Black should play something like 35...Qd4. If 36.Rh3+ Kg6 37.Rg3+ Kh7 38.Rf7+ Kh6 39.Rf6+ Kh7 40.Rfg6 Qh4+ 41.Kg1 Qd4+ 42.Kh2 Qh4+ is perpetual check.

Dec-12-15  Xeroxx: really nice.
