Jan-27-04  S4NKT: Ne2 doesn't seem to do much here either!
Jul-18-05  sneaky pete: "Owing to an unfortunate miscarriage, the MS. of the remaining portion of this game, by far the best part, was lost. The game was won by Staunton." Staunton in the tournament book.
As the match ended +4 -2 =1 in favour of Staunton, and none of the other six games was drawn, I venture the opinion that S. was mistaken here and this game actually ended in a draw.
May-02-11  ahofmann: in the german wikipedia of the tournament is a link to a google-pdf of the tournament book. Their is "was won by Staunton" overwritten with "drawn" (by hand)

jnpope: This is indeed the drawn game. The 1873 edition has a correction and ends with:

<Owing to an unfortunate miscarriage, the MS. of the remaining portion of this game, by far the best part, was lost. The game was drawn.>
