Oct-19-07  luzhin: If 17..Rf8, then Karjakin has 18.Rg8!
Oct-20-07  ounos: 19. ... o-o!
It is rare that castling is such an attacking move. White must have missed it in his 17th move.
Nov-05-07  meteficha: This is Carlsen's 666 game here on CG :S

Nov-06-16  clement41: This blindfold game clearly deserves more attention, especially one week away for the wcc match! 17 Tg7!
19...0-0!! amazing attacking castling!
The knight on g5 must fall as Rh5 is forbidden
Jan-08-17  Mr. V: What's the problem with 17. Nxh7?
Jan-08-17  Ilkka Salonen: Too early queen exchange! What a way to go! Still, pretty nice for a blindfold game. Or I'm not sure if 18.Rxh7 would have really rescued the situation, but it looks better.
Jan-08-17  thegoodanarchist: Based on GOTD title I was expecting to see a queenside castling move.
Jan-08-17  ChessHigherCat: <Mr. V: What's the problem with 17. Nxh7?> maybe Bf5?
Jan-08-17  drpoundsign: Well, if Karjak had won, it would have made for a cuter pun. "This is a Karjak" "I KNOW what it IS" from "The Brady Bunch Movie"

Teyss: If e.g. 20.Rh6, Bxg5 21.Rxg6+ Kh7 threatens Kxg6 and Rf1# Only a GM can "see" this in blindfold. Karjakin continued playing but in classical Chess he would probably have resigned after 19...O-O.

HeMateMe: the Empire Strikes Back! Seventeen year old Carlsen defeats the gifted 17 year old Karjakin here.

It's a shame that war and politics got in the way. This could have been an amazing rivalry, one to remind chess fans of Fischer v. Spassky or Alekhine and Capablanca.

Just one more reason to hate Vladimir Putin.
