It could be white didn't have to loose. 29 Qc2 was an error being in time trouble. The knight is unguarded. I do believe Spassky exploits an unguarded piece as well as any. Though he too was in time trouble and didn't do it the most precise way. |

When discussing chess, the loose associations required can make anyone lose the thread of their idea. If this site had a looser attitude towards editing previous kibitzes for typos, we wouldn't lose members to such frustration, or else get pegged as losers. But besides the loose cannons around, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Loosen up, mate; you've got nothing to lose. |

For me Boris Spassky is a definite Top 5 player. In a way I see similarities between him and Petrosian; both being patient players with tactical style although in Petrosian's case it's not so obvious. Petrosian is the funny kind of commander. He has his troops surround his enemy, then he wins by having the cannons shot away from his enemy. Back to this game and Spassky's win. Nice one! |
