Apr-03-14  nummerzwei: In 'The Modern Game of Chess', Tarrasch queries 8...NxNd2. He suggests 8...NxBg5, on which he mainly analyses 9.h4 as leading to .

However, in the alternative line 9.dxc6 Nf6 (that is given short shrift), White in fact has 10.Bb5!

Black must move his king, and accordingly White gets tremendous compensation for the piece. A sample line runs:

10...Kd8 11.c7+!! (Houdini) Kxc7 (11... Qxc7 12.h4 ) 12.Nc4 Qb4 13.a3 Qe7 14.Rc1 with a strong attack.

Jonathan Sarfati: Marshall again shows his underestimated endgame skills in the tricky rook endgame after a brisk typical Marshall middlegame attack.
Jan-30-19  HarryP: This is a very entertaining game.

after 24...gxf6 White is better, but Teichmann could have refuted Marshall's play with 24... Rf7! 25. Bg5 (or 25. fxg7 Be4 26. Rg3 c3 )25...g6 26.Qh6 Be4, keeping f-line closed White has no attack, and Black can play Qxa3-Qf8 winning on Q-side..
