Spassky-Fischer Match 1972
Compiled by FischerSpasskyGuy
--*--

Fischer advanced through three easy rounds in 1972 by beating Taimanov 6-0, Larsen 6-0, and Petrosian 6.5-2.5 to achieve the right to challenge Spassky, who was champion since beating Petrosian 12.5 to 10.5 in a revenge match in 1969. It was thought to be the perfect match at the time of the 1970s, when the Cold War was taking place between the United States (with Fischer) and Soviet Union (with Spassky). The match took place in Reykjavik, Iceland. The Soviets had a huge chess monopoly at the time. So who won, Spassky or Fischer?
