GrahamClayton: In order not to get confused, Najdorf divided the 45 games into three sets of 15. He broke up the sets by playing black in games 13 & 14 and playing an unusual opening as White in games 15 (1.f4), 30 (1.b4) & 45 (1. Nf3).

The exhibition was held in the Prestes Maia Gallery, and started around 8.00pm on the 24th of January, and finished at 7.25pm on the 25th.The boards were arranged in a horseshoe pattern. Najdorf sat in a separate room, hearing his opponents moves and calling out his own via a microphone. Doctors assessed Najdorf at regular intervals, checking his blood pressure and heart rate.
