  FSR: Norbert Leopoldi organized this tournament to try to get a GM norm for his friend Bill Martz, who sadly was terminally ill with cancer. I attended some rounds and assisted with the demonstration boards. I got Korchnoi and Huebner's autographs.

The tournament was held at the "Purple Hotel" in Lincolnwood, which became notorious as the site of a mob hit in 1983, the year after this tournament. The hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places in July 2013, and demolished the following month! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purpl...
