Dec-30-09  Raisin Death Ray: Will Paris Rilton be at the tournament?
Dec-30-09  waustad: <raisin>She doesn't wear the kind of duds that work in Sweden in January. OK, maybe not when the paparazzi are watching.
Dec-31-09  notyetagm: Hammer time!
Dec-31-09  siamesedream: <Hammer time!> So far he's not playing his best chess, with 2/4.

Cmon Radek Wojtaszek!

Dec-31-09  Octavia: Luke has 3/4
Dec-31-09  Prugno: GM Rozentalis is known mostly as a positional player, but today he said goodbye to the year 2009 sith a very unusual tactical finish (in an already winning position) vs. Miezis.

The game will probably be posted tomorrow, but having watched it live, I thought of mentioning it here before I forget: after 49... Kh4, we have 50. Qh3+! Kxh3 51. Rxh5 mate.

Jan-02-10  waustad: McShane and Grandilius both had interesting wins today. Here is the live link:

alexrawlings: There isn't a lot of money in this for the players by the looks of it. The website says 1st prize is 20,000 Swedish Kronor, which translates to c.$2.8k

I wonder why players like McShane are at this event, unless they've received appearence fees I can't see how this would be worth their while when you take into account travel and accomodation expenses.

Anyway, there have been some interesting games at this tournament so I'm pleased all the players turned up!
