This was the Opening Blitz event that was played to determine who had White in three of the five games in the rapid section Zurich Chess Challenge (2016). Nakamura, Shirov and Anand won that privilege, the quid pro quo being a reversal of colors in the second section of the tournament, the Zurich Chess Challenge (Blitz) (2016).
