Introduction
Chess players will be pleased to learn that the efforts of the Manhattan Chess Club to bring together two of the leading metropolitan experts in a match have been realized. Both Lipschuetz and Richardson have agreed to a proposition that they play a series of six games at the rate of two games a week at the Manhattan Chess Club. The club will pay $15 to the winner of each game, $5 to the loser, while in the event of a draw each man will receive $5 [sic]. The players will meet at the club this afternoon to settle the other details of the contest. (1)

The series of six games between the well known Metropolitan chess experts Lipschuetz and Richardson will be begun at the Manhattan Chess Club on Sunday next, at 3 o'clock. When the men met at the club yesterday afternoon they agreed on the following rules to govern these exhibition games: (2)

Time limit, forty moves for the first two hours, and then at the rate of twenty moves to the hour; days of play, Sundays and Wednesdays; time, from 3 to 12 p.m. on Sundays, with one hour's intermission at 7, and from 8 to 12 on Wednesdays. All adjourned games to be finished at the close of the series. (2)

As was stated yesterday, the Manhattan Chess Club will pay to the winner of each game $15, to the loser $5, and in case of a draw $10 to each man. (2)
