Mar-03-13  DIO: Pein still plays? Interesting!
Mar-03-13  PhilFeeley: It's good that he keeps in practice.

BTW what is this competition? I've never heard of it. Is there a website?

Mar-03-13  PhilFeeley: Baburin too!

HeMateMe: U2 had planned an album <Achtung Bunratty>, but decided to go with a different title.
Mar-03-13  waustad: <Tabanus>I looked at all of the lists and it seems he isn't. <PhilFeeley>This is often billed as the top weekender of the year. Here is the official site: http://www.bunrattychess.com/
Mar-03-13  whiteshark: Indeed, for the first time in years, I can envisage a situation in which I feel bullish on Europe.
Mar-03-13  Ezzy: 1 Adams 5.5
2 Short 5.0

So Adams retains his Bunratty title. Only Svidler has done this before in 2008 - 2009.

Mar-03-13  Edmontonchessclub: This tournament is not FIDE-rated, for some reason. So Adams and Short are playing risk-free.

Check It Out: IM Richard Bates, FIDE 2375, had a fantastic tourney with a TPR of 2657, draws against both Adams and N. Short, and a tie for second with Short.

HeMateMe: If Frank McCourt had played, we could have had a Tis/Thee game.

perfidious: <HMM> Would dear Jamie have been his opponent, or perhaps her paramour instead???

HeMateMe: After reading Frank McCourt's book, I decided that it wasn't all that easy growing up in Ireland. I'm sure things are much better now. He recently passed away. His book about his youth in NYC is interesting, what a crazy bohemian lifestyle one could have in Manhattan and brooklyn.

perfidious: <HMM> Ah, that Frank McCourt, not the former Dodger owner whose ex-wife played around on him.

HeMateMe: Ah, I get it. I don't follow baseball too closely. Has anyone ever accomplished so little, with so much, as the pathetic McCourts of Dodger baseball fame?

perfidious: <HMM> From the baseball point of view, I should think not. McCourt did, however, manage to suck the team's coffers about dry before his reign came to its ignominious end.
