Feb-25-12 | | waustad: Giri vs Ragger is an interesting game. It's very tactical. |
|
Feb-25-12 | | cro777: The game Giri - Ragger is very sharp.
In the Semi Slav Meran Anish opted for a rare set-up (Morozevich's idea) and sacrificed a piece.1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. e3 e6 5. Nf3 Nbd7 6. Bd3 dxc4 7. Bxc4 b5 8. Bd3 Bb7 9. O-O a6 10. e4 c5 11. d5 Qc7 12. Bc2 O-O-O 13. Ng5 Nb6 14. a4 h6

<15. Nxf7> Giri sacrificed a piece. In the game Kozul - Predojevic at the Croatian Team Championship White retreated the knight 15.Nf3 (Kozul lost the game). |

The critical position.
Here, Giri should have played 28.Bxf4 with the idea 28...Nxa5 29.Be5 Rhe8 30.Bf6. Instead, he faltered by playing <28.Ra7?> but Ragger missed the simple 28...Nxc1 with winning chances. Feb-26-12 | | whiteshark: Yesterday Giri-Ragger was the longest game. Today Ragger took a quick draw against Efimenko (Bremen team). Solingen (4th) vs Bremen (2nd) is also todays top team pairing. I expect some exciting fights. Another 'surprise' is Karpov playing on board 1 for Hockenhein (1st time in this season, me thinks) |

Mar-16-12 | | whiteshark: <At 17th and 18th of March 2012 the 12th and 13th round of the Schachbundesliga will take place. <>> The eyes of all chess fans of the Schachbundesliga will focus the next weekend on the match between Werder Bremen and OSG Baden-Baden. These two teams fight for the championship in the season 2011/12. Baden-Baden is at the top of the table with one point ahead of Bremen, so the team of Northern Germany needs to win in order to preserve chances to gain the second title after 2005. Like in the last years an exciting match can be expected with both teams having only high-class grandmasters in their line-ups. http://www.schachbundesliga.de/maga... |

Efimenko : Svidler
Fressinet : Adams
McShane : Shirov
Areshchenko : Bacrot
Roiz : Naiditsch
Nyback : Nielsen

|
Mar-17-12 | | whiteshark: My local team, Bremen, lost 3.5 : 4.5 today.
At one point Eljanov and Nyback had winning positions, but both missed their opportunity in huge time trouble. When I left the venue only Adams:Fressinet were playing, Mickey was pressing on the queenside, but the game looked defendable. One hour later when I arrived at home Adams has a winning advantage. :( |
|
Mar-18-12 | | whiteshark: Round 13 has begun.

|
Mar-18-12 | | whiteshark: and above mentioned game made it as 1st draw of the Day. |
