While residing in the maritimes in 2000, Alvah achieved a Canadian National Master certification. In 2002, User: NMAlvahMayo tied 1st-2nd with Jason Kenney in the Nova Scotia Open, winning it 3 times (outright) in the previous & subsequent years, repeating in 2009. He tied 1st-2nd in 3 Nova Scotia Championships in 2007 (with Gary Ng), 2002 (with Jason Kenney) & 1998 (with Glenn Charlton). He won the Maritime open Colpitts trophy in 1999.
