 | | Phony Benoni: Once again, I seem to be out-of-date. The AL record is 20 wins in a row, by Oakland in 2002: http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/... That 20th win was a doozy. Oakland jumped out to an 11-0 lead after three innings, then wound up winning 12-11 on a walk-off pinch-hit home run. |

 | | saffuna: Bill King's call of that game is fantastic.
Afterward Billy Beane tried to say, "It's just another win." |

 | | WannaBe: MLB will start 2018 earlier (about a week) and have more rest days http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/... How many snow-outs will there be in the first 2 weeks? Chess Bookie now taking all bets. |

 | | WannaBe: There will be a free, yes <FREE> game next year at Oakland http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/... |
|
Sep-12-17
 | | Phony Benoni: There is no such thing as a free game. The catch is that you have to go watch it. |
|
Sep-12-17
 | | Phony Benoni: Cleveland up 1-0 as the Tigers go to the bullpen in the bottom of the 6th. This is where it could get ugly. |

 | | WannaBe: Free game, but parking will be $40, soda will be $10, hotdogs will be $9 and cotton candy will be $12. =)) |

 | | Penguincw: < MLB will start 2018 earlier (about a week) and have more rest days > I think I read some article recently, on how MLB could improve on its scheduling, and I think the article mentioned starting the season a week early, cutting the regular season, which would then end in early <September>. Interesting read. This article: http://houston.cbslocal.com/2017/03.... < How many snow-outs will there be in the first 2 weeks? Chess Bookie now taking all bets. > That above article also mentioned that colder places could have more road games at the beginning. I'm sure the owners won't complain about more summer home games. Unless it's a dome like TOR, in which case, home games can be held in any daily weather. |

 | | Penguincw: < There will be a free, yes <FREE> game next year at Oakland > I wonder if the stadium will still be empty...
But yeah, free entry, but the real money is made in the concessions (technically the real money comes from TV contracts). |

 | | WannaBe: <Penguincw> Usually the cities that have snow in late March, also have incredibly hot/humid weather later in the season, too. Ugh. |

 | | WannaBe: According to ESPN, 4/17/2018 (Tuesday) will be the free game in Oakland, WSox are in town. Tuesdays have also been free parking day, be interesting to know if Chevy will be sponsoring this promo in 2018. 4/17 and 4/18 will also see Minnesota & Cleveland play in San Juan PR (Twins are the home team). But it doeth make one wonder, why not Miami or Tampa Bay? Are there a lot of Twins or Indians fans in PR? http://www.espn.com/blog/sweetspot/... |

 | | Penguincw: < WannaBe: <Penguincw> Usually the cities that have snow in late March, also have incredibly hot/humid weather later in the season, too. > Really?
Well, I'm sure most would rather play in the heat, than say, the snow (at least it's playable). ---
< 4/17 and 4/18 will also see Minnesota & Cleveland play in San Juan PR (Twins are the home team). But it doeth make one wonder, why not Miami or Tampa Bay? Are there a lot of Twins or Indians fans in PR? > Why not Montreal? They got a stadium up there, domed as well. While MTL didn't leave MLB on the greatest terms, a few years ago, there were 2 spring training games held there, which attracted 50,000, each. They want baseball back in MTL... I guess MLB doesn't want to answer potential questions on why MTL has a higher attendance than say, TB or MIA (speaking of which, MLB doesn't have expand to MTL; relocating one of those teams to MTL would be great). |

 | | WannaBe: Here's an interesting trivia question...
I am the first black (African-American) manager for AL, and NL, who am I? This trivia is very easy (for some...)

Sep-14-17 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Phony, how the hell are ya? I haven't chatted with you in 2 months of Sunday's! Just wanted to update ya.. Cubs 17 Mets 5... ; P |

Sep-14-17 | | Travis Bickle: Mr Benoni, take a 5 minute break from the game scores of Ghengis Kahn vs Alexander the Great to enjoy some ballgame highlights. https://www.google.com/search?q=Cub... P.S. Jen-Ho Tseng is coming up from the farm to start tonight... |

 | | saffuna: Frank Robinson. I listened to him interviewed, very well, by Jon Miller on last night's broadcast. I have two memories of Frank Robinson. One was the game where Ron Herbel beaned him in the first game and he charged the mound, starting a big fight. He then went homer, whiff, homer, whiff in his following four at-bats. And he took giant cuts in the strikeouts. And the final Friday night game against the Dodgers in 1982, where Robinson left Fred Breining in to pitch to Rick Monday in the top of the eighth of a scoreless game, with the bases loaded. The whole stadium was screaming to take Breining out. Breining stayed in. Monday's homer landed about 20 feet to the right of me, and the Giants were effectively out of the race. That may have been standard practice in 1982, but today no starting pitcher would stay in in the eighth inning and the bases loaded, no matter how well he had been pitching. Robinson was also a member of the only all-Oakland outfield in major league history, starting with the Vada Pinson and Tommy Harper for Cincinnati. |

 | | WannaBe: <Travis Bickle> Things are good, still on this side of the dirt. =) NFL is back, NCAA football is back, Autumn is in the air, what else can one want? |

Sep-14-17
 | | Phony Benoni: Well, Travis, thanks for giving the Sox ideas. They put up 17 on the Tigers today. Is football returning to Chicago? |
