"Play the board AND the man ! ".
But mostly the board.
Was born in Elsinore,Denmark,1953.And I am still proud of it.As I hope everyone is proud of hers/his startingpoint.

In many aspects life and chess do mirror each other IM experience. As science and belief goes hand in hand.So many "rules of thumbs" and many "exceptions" from the rule. I do agree with Bent Larsen who once said that someone who cannot contain a paradoxe is not using the full capacity of his brain.Actually I am convinced that there are no parodoxes, but perspectives which are more bright or flexible than others...

Though some obviously are borned under more easygoing circumstances than others,I will second our esteemed fellowkibitzer <zarg> who underlines that "luck" is also somehing that we create ourselves. Ourselves, but also together IM experience.
I try to live my life as if Jesus or Buddha knocked on the door , I would wellcome them as friends . And if they didn´t show up, it would be fine anyway.

moronovich: That is nothing. I once witnessed IM Bednarski from Poland, spending around 59minuttes on his first move (1.e4-e6 !!). Told me, he had to go through all his opponents variations in the french. He was a chainsmoker.

moronovich: There is a sad story connected with this game. My friend, Klaus Berg, would have achieved the third and final GM-norm if he had converted the win. But he failed and never accomplished the third an final norm ): Chess is a cruel game.

moronovich: Thank you very much, dear <virginmind> !

It´s been a great day so far. With many friends given their greetings. And a lot of gifts from my dear wife !

moronovich: Good evening, dear <virginmind> !

Just a short greeting, just as the spring is emerging steadily here, which is fine, though, as you know, I like the winter time too :)

Healthwise it is better and we are enjoying the company of each other.

I hope things are fine with you too and soon the WC matchis coming up. Do you have any favourit and do you have an idea of the final outcome ? Personally I cheer (though limitedly) for Ding so Putin will not misuse the victor of Ian, (whom I hahve nothing perssonally against).

All the best, my friend and many hugs to you and Maria !

Mar-19-23  virginmind: Hello my dear! I don't have a favourite for now. It will be a different WCC this year, in terms of expected excitement at least. But better wait and see.

I took a brain MRI last Monday and the results were so and so, but nothing I should worry much, in my opinion. I'll wait for the neurologist to assess them though, sometime next week. Spring is a bit late here, if I'm to judge after the (non)blooming trees around. Only the birds singing announce that everything should be all right.

I'm glad you're fine. Hugs for you and Hannah.

Sending best wishes to the both of you for a return to full health.

moronovich: Morning, my dear <virginmind> !

Thanks for posting and hopefully it will all turn out well with the neurologists assesment. I sincerely hope so !

Glad to hear you also have these springbirds to remind us of better weather ahead. And spring comes every year, I can promise you ;)

I enjoy immensely that the bicycleseason has started. Bets are laid and today I shall be a tourist in Catalonia.

All the the best to you, my dear friend and to good health too.

Off course lots of hugs to you and your Maria !

  moronovich: Hej, Diademas !

Mar-23-23  virginmind: Hi <moronovich>, it's most probably a migrainous syndrome, the doctor again changed the medication, this time giving me something which is normally prescribed for epilepsy (?). I'll return for control at the beginning of May. So nothing I should worry about. Thanks to you and to <optimal play> for the kind wishes.

Oh, and spring did indeed strike, 20 degrees Celsius here today. Good luck with the bicycle season in Catalonia!

Hugs.

Mar-24-23  virginmind: I bought that medication, but I didn't start taking it: too many nasty side effects described (and some are of often occurence). If one may accept them as a price to fight epilepsy, why would I have to take the risk just for some headaches? I wanted to talk to the doctor about this, but she cannot be contacted for now. I mean, there's a plethora of nasty side effects which are quite possible to occur, both of physical and psychological nature. No, thank you. I hope she will agree to change this medication.

moronovich: Good afternoon, my friend !

I think I can understand your conlusions about the sideeffects and can only support you in this.

Sometimes zone therapy (under the feets) can take some of the headache, I have heard !?

And I wish you all the best to further recovery ! You have got your bloospressure checked, I presume.

Anyway, I´ll send you all the best wishes for the weekend and soon a certain little (;) chess match is coming !

Hugs to you and your Maria, here from sunny and cloudy Denmark.

Apr-30-23  virginmind: Hello my dear, so here we are at the end of this match, and I'm glad Ding won it. It's been indeed special with so many decisive games, and this final rapid with the unexpected development. Brave Ding, he really deserves credit.

I didn't take at all that medication I was mentionning, and in a few days I have to get back to the doctor and tell her how it worked out, but now not sure what to do. The fact is though that, for some reason, in the past month the headaches did have a few longer intermissions as before. Probably due to the change in medication (starting from Jan.). I'm optimistic. Oh, and my blood pressure has always been fine. I still have to do some checkings about what the MRI has shown.

Thanks for the kind words and hopefully you and Hannah are fine and enjoying this prolonged weekend. Hugs.

moronovich: Good evening, my dear !

Good to hear you are optimistic and the bloodpressure is fine. Some fine building stones, I may say !

And yes, I am also delighted Ding won this enetertaining match, which now has lasted for 3 weeks. OMG how time flies.

The match is perhaps best characterized by Caruana, who said that Nepo got the most chances, but Ding took the biggest risks ! Who won´t remember the brave and daring - Rg6 (!!) from this epic duel !?

Wife is cooking and I am off for dining (potatoes with salmon, yummy;) but with all the best wishes for you and your further health !

See you up the road and with hugs to both you and to Maria.

Jun-19-23  virginmind: Hi dear <moronovich>, nothing much to mention here, other than we went to Croatia earlier this month and it's been lovely, great weather. We visited Trogir, Split and Sibenik. I'm fine and I hope you are the same.
After a break of more than 5 months, I returned to Panadol Extra and it's OK.

There were quite a few chess events since last we spoke, as you may know, I did follow a bit but not much. Today I played two games on chess.com, drawn one and won the other.

Any news on your side?
Hugs.

  moronovich: Hi, <virginmind> !

Great to see you again and thanks for stopping by.

Good to hear your Panadol Extra seems to do you good . Keep up the good work ,my friend !

Here stomach is the best for a very long time and I enjoy it immendsely. After all this hard work..

There is a blizzard right now and we need water/rain like never before. This heath vawe is definately not my cup of tea, but I remember that you like the summers sun ;)

Soon TDF is going to start and this means more than 3 weeks, were I am glued to the TV. The older I get, (turned 70 this year!) the more I am found of bicyckling. Also as a way to see other countries, e.g. France revisited ), and other parts of nature, than the usual suspects. Betting too, off course, as a great hobby....So are you going to follow TDF as well ?

I send you and you Maria my best regards and all my best wishes for the best of possible summer to you both. With good health and many fine experiences and moments of joy !

See you up or down the road !

Jun-26-23  virginmind: Hello my friend. So it was a storm in your area, if I got you right, but rather welcomed because of the heat wave in Denmark? In Trogir it only rained once while we were there, rather strong but it didnt get to a storm level. It wasn't hot either, so best time for wandering. Dubrovnik was too far from where we were, also Pula and Rovini. We didn't reach an island, Hvar. Maybe some other time. Croatians are great people, as far as we noticed.

I'm glad your stomach doesn't bother you anymore. Yes, I'm going to follow TDF from time to time, one cannot miss such a visual treat and, of course, all the struggle to be first.

Best regards to you and Hannah and, once again (or if I failed to do it), many happy returns of your birthday celebration! 70 years is a good age for bycicling, wether just to watch it on tv, or to ride a bike. I trust you have your attention sharp at all times, in the latter case.

Jun-27-23  virginmind: Vingegaard!
Jun-28-23  virginmind: Sorry, I was watching a relay on Eurosport of a TDF segment won by Vingegaard, unaware that it was from last year :) Nonetheless, good luck for the Danish cyclists, starting from July 1st!

  moronovich: Thank you <virginmind> !

We certainly also rootes for the dane, but in the overall picture, I would rather prefer Pogacar to win a thrilling even race over the 3 weeks span, than Vingegaard just winning without real competition.

They start saturday in Bilbao around 12.00 GMT) and it is up in the mountains from day one ! Thank you very much for the birthday wishes and I´ll immediatedly send them back to you in Iasi, if I rightly remember it is in June you are celebrating your birthday, right !?

All the best and all the rest

-moro-

moronovich: You are as always welcome ! And you are still born in the sign of the virgo.

With the best wishes for your day to come.

Jun-29-23  virginmind: Uhm, no, it's the sign of gemini - by birth. But you're half right, actually, as my given name is that of a saint celebrated at the end of August, so virgo :)

moronovich: Sorry, I meant gemini, of course ;)

But, 50% is better than nothing ;)
