Benzol: <whiteshark> Roger may have been born on September 13th but he certainly wasn't born in 1935. The opponent I played in 1973 in a telegraphic match was twelve years old at the time. See my first post in this game R L Perry vs P Morten, 2001
Oct-14-09  whiteshark: Hello <Benzol>!

'My' Roger Perry was born 1935. His Fide-card shows some activity with a four years gap between 2000 and 2004 http://ratings.fide.com/id.phtml?ev...

I'd assume two different players, but it could (will) be hard to differenciate between them. :D

Richard Taylor: Well I have met and played Roger Perry (of NZ) about 5 times or more and he is younger than me!). I was born in 1948 so Perry is 11 years younger and was certainly not born in 1939. Of course Perry is a fairly common name....

Jonathan Sarfati: <missionmankiwi> has written elsewhere:

“I am greatly saddened to learn that Roger Perry has lost his battle with cancer. He was a strong Otago Chess Club and later North Island player who played in a few NZ championships. He also represented PNG in an Olympiad. He and I were youngsters together at the OCC. RIP Roger. Many of us will greatly miss you.

His funeral was held today at St John's Presbyterian Church in Wellington, a church at which i used to worship.”
