[what is this?]Born in the city of La Paz, he made many achievements as a local chess player including six championships for the "State" of La Paz and two times Bolivian chess champion; in 1992 and 1996. He participated in seven olympiads: Argentina 1978, United Arab Emirates 1986, Greece 1988, Yugoslav 1990, Kalmykia 1998, Turkey 2000 and Spain 2004, making him the only Bolivian to participate that many times in chess olympiads. In 2003 he obtained his FIDE master title. In Calvia-Spain 2004 he made an impressive 6/8 score without defeat.
