Tabanus: From 'The London Gazette' 12 Jan. 1954:

"LIST of ALIENS to whom Certificates of Naturalisation have been granted by the Secretary of State, and whose Oaths of Allegiance have been registered in the Home Office during the month of December, 1953. The date shown in each case is the date of naturalisation." [---]

"Tabakiernik, Wladyslaw; Poland; Press Operator; 46, Danes Hill Road, Leicester. 26 November, 1953."

Oct-31-13  Nosnibor: Tabakiernik known as "Tabby" to his chess playing friends also won the Leicestershire and Rutland County Championship in 1952,1953,1962 and 1963 apart from the shared title in 1970.I met him many times over the board scoring 4 wins each and only one draw.My information tells me that he was born in 1906 and not 1915 which is shown in the database. He retired from the Imperial Typewriter works in 1971 at the age of 65 and left Leiceter to live in the London area where he continued to play chess into his nineties!Their is a very nice game he played in the National Club Championship of 1952/53 against W.R.Morry which finished with a pretty Queen sacrifice.(B.C.M.1953 PAGE21)

Tabanus: <Nosnibor> Thanks for that! I will change to 1906 when home from work. Ancestry.com has 1915, but London Gazette has he is 46 in 1953/54.

1952, 1953 and 1962 I missed because of spelling error in http://www.lrca.org.uk/lrca/archive..., where 1963 has P. N. Wallis.

Oct-31-13  Nosnibor: <Tabanus> You are welcome! The remaining year he won it was 1965 and not 1963 (typo). He was born in Poland and fought against Nazi Germany in operations with the White Eagles.I recall him telling a story back in the 60`s that when he was a young man Akiba Rubinstein use to visit his home often for meals and play chess with his father.

Tabanus: Changes made. Ancestry has 8 Nov. 1915, so the "8 Nov." may be wrong also.
