Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-09-04  Ribeiro: The game he won against Panno, in Mar del Plata (1955), earned him a brilliancy prize. He also won a game against Gligoric in the same tournament.
May-16-14  capablancakarpov: This guy was Basque, or from Basque parents, that´s for sure, maybe a Spanish Civil War refugee?
May-16-14  Rookiepawn: Not a single trace of him on the web apart from chess games. The name is as Basque as can be, correct.

Could be a refugee, but it's hard to tell since Argentina had already a good load of Basque surnames before the Spanish civil war.

Fusilli: He was from Pergamino (province of Buenos Aires), according to Panno in this interview (in Spanish): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldd....

There are plenty of Basque last names in Argentina. Ever since the time it was a Spanish colony, and reinforced by mass migration in the late 19th century and early 20th.
