Nov-09-10 | | BobCrisp: What the hell is a <Candidate Master>? Just how low down the pecking order do these <Mickey Mouse> titles go? |
Nov-09-10 | | Sydro: The FIDE titles goes like this:
Grand Master: 2500+ elo
International Master: 2400+ elo
FIDE Master: 2300+ elo
Candidate Master: 2200+ elo
No lower titles exists. |

Nov-11-10 | | brankat: <Tryfon Gavriel> A well deserved title. Congratulations! Btw, the Game of the Day, Nov-11, is indeed a delightful one. |

 | | Richard Taylor: You are in line to be an IM? Good on you!
I like your chess videos (and games) - very enlightening. Yours and those of Dennis Monokroussos are very good. |
Nov-11-10 | | brankat: <Sydro> Traditionally, unless something has changed in the meanwhile, Candidate Master title is rated at 2100-2200 elo. It has been NM [national (federation's) master] title rated at 2200-2300 elo. CM means a Candidate for a NM title, not FIDE Master's, although there have been instances of skipping a level in cases of exceptional results. At least that's how things used to be. But, then, since I'm coming from the Stone Age, I could be wrong :-) |

 | | chancho: Congrats <Kingscrusher>! |
Nov-12-10 | | Sydro: <brankat> That might be obsolete today I guess. Here is fide's website about requirements of getting a title. http://www.fide.com/component/handb... |
Nov-12-10 | | Sydro: Sydro: <brankat> Ah, I understand now. You are referring to USCF titles. |
Dec-12-10 | | tentsewang: Way to go Gavriel!! I love your videos in youtube.. thx.. ;) |
Dec-15-10 | | Pyke: Hello Mr. Gavriel,
just wanted to drop by and say:
AWESOME job on the interview with Luke McShane.
I also agree with you that - in this particular situation - the idea of interviewing Anand didn't seem that promising and probably rather rude. But again, thanks for the interview and all the efforts you put into providing us with your Youtube channel. Pyke
P.S.: For all those of you who haven't seen the interview with Mr. McShane yet, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zdyk... |
Jan-17-11 | | libertyjack: Thanks for your absolutely INCREDIBLE job on youtube and for chessin general. Kingscrusher ftw :) |
Feb-21-11 | | SufferingBruin: The service this man is providing to lower rated chess players cannot be overstated. If you're ever in Los Angeles, Tryfon, lunch is on me. |
Feb-09-12 | | dbeagan: @Kingscrusher
The youtube videos are great. How the heck can you play speed chess and narrate at the same time? |
Feb-11-12 | | King Death: < BobCrisp: What the hell is a <Candidate Master>? Just how low down the pecking order do these <Mickey Mouse> titles go?> This sounds like jealousy on the part of somebody who isn't even strong enough to have a title himself. |
Feb-11-12 | | King Death: By the way sir, you do excellent work and I'm sure there are many folks that have learned from your videos. Keep it up! |
Apr-07-12 | | Archerforthelord: Chessgames can we get a straping tryf pic up here? |
Dec-04-12 | | andyatchess: Agreed - we need a pic of Kingscrusher, and his dog! |
Jun-29-13 | | schopen: I used to like his videos but he turned out to be a bad guy. He has Aspergers (I do too) and since I declared it on one of his videos he blocked me from posting comments. It's not an insult to say that another person is having AS. On the contrary, it is imore like an unconventional gift in a world full of boring, conservative people. |
Jun-29-13 | | TheFocus: How do you know he has AS? Did he say this himself?
I have always found <kingscrusher> to be a fair man. Maybe you said something insulting. |
Jun-29-13 | | Big Pawn: <Kingscrusher> never ever sounded like a bad guy to me - not even once. He's always very polite and chooses his words carefully in my opinion. He does a wonderful job with his videos and seems like a really likeable guy. You shouldn't go around calling nice people bad guys. |
Jun-29-13 | | HSOL: I can't really see it is particularly bad to block someone from commenting on one's channel on youtube. Surely it should be up to him whether a certain person is allowed to comment on his videos? |
Jun-29-13 | | Illogic: <schopen> Sounds like you were in the wrong. It's not your place to announce to the world whether he has Asperger's (if he even does..) |
