Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-17-23  SChesshevsky: Interesting game. Seems sharp throughout. Lev shows how dangerous he can be. Maybe going out of book as early as 6. Nh3, 8. Nf4, looks like he subtly gets the edge.

Kind of ironic that Aronian gets the win in such a sharp game by getting Pragg off the mundane opposition.

Feb-17-23  paavoh: Who would not like White's position at 13.Rg1? An ingenious way of diverting a (relatively) inexperienced player astray. At the end, White will gain the opposition with the King, f4 and f5 squares are blocked and e4 pawn will fall.

fredthebear: Agreed <paavoh>. 11.h6? gives the pawn away. Shortly thereafter, Black should have castled short instead of long.
Feb-20-23  carlrune: 11. g4 must be a disaster.
After 11. --- Ne5 12. Bxe5 Qxe5 13. Bxc4 0-0 Black has a big advantage.

HeMateMe: Lev knows rook pawn endgames.

fredthebear: Lev had to know K&P endings before offering the trade of rooks with 48.Rb2. Black should have made it as difficult as possible by keeping his last rook on the board, declining the trade.
Feb-24-23  outplayer: I like this game. It goes to show how difficult it is to play against a super-GM.
