jnpope: This should be Paul J. Wortman, not Worthman.

OhioChessFan: From the Scranton Times-Tribune December 1, 1906:

<Paul J. Wortman, the popular secretary of the Dayton (O.) club, managed to score a draw against Dr. Lasker during the champion's visit to Cash Registerville. Paul is ever a dangerous opponent, and this game will, as usual, reflect credit on his ability as a master: >

OhioChessFan: "Cash Registerville" was an odd nickname for Dayton, the home of the National Cash Register Company.
Jan-13-23  stone free or die: <OCF> I think that <Cash Registerville> might not be a nickname, but rather a neighborhood.

This was common for company towns, especially back then (1906). Sometimes the company actually even owned all the houses in the neighborhood and rented them to the company workers.

Anyways, I don't find it odd, as NCR was a big, big company, kind of an IBM of its day(*).

(*) In fact, look up how Thomas Watson Sr. got his big start in business playing dirty tricks for NCR.

fredthebear: Do they use nearly-naked women for their advertisements?
Jan-13-23  stone free or die: I do enjoy comparing the old style advertising during my chess researches. A fun side alley one normally won't explore otherwise.
