Oct-07-22  syracrophy: When I saw Black playing 62...♔g5 my thought was "This dude REALLY knows this is not a loss for Black"

perfidious: Presumably Vachier had his reasons for not playing 8.f4 Qc7 9.g4, a reason Black's seventh move has long been considered dubious.

Presumably his main reason was that you're mixing up 6. ♗e3 e5 7. ♘b3 ♗e6 (main) and 6. ♗e2 e5 7. ♘b3 ♗e6?!.

Dubious??

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 a6 6. Be3 e5 7. Nb3 Be6 is the main line of the Sicilian Najdorf, English Attack!

Here's a straight-forward demonstration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5X...

Clement Fraud: White got no significant advantage in the middle-game, which I find interesting 🤔

Would it not have been logical to assume... that Vachier-Lagrave's Knight on c6, coupled with his superior King position, would 'at least' have generated him some lasting pressure (against the enemy monarch)???

Oct-11-22  mayankk06: As a poor patzer, I found 25 ... Na3+ sac and 27 ... c4 followup a very inspiring demonstration of converting an overly defensive position into one with tactical possibilities for Black.

Clement Fraud: I don't like 14.Bxc5 : following a lengthy analysis of my own, I feel drawn towards 14.Bc4!? If Black responds with b6-b5, then White can retreat his Bishop to e2... after which the a5 square becomes vulnerable to Nb3-a5 ; and, if Black exchanges Knights at this point (Nc5xb3), then White should recapture with his Bishop Pawn. Following this, although it is the case that White's QP would be isolated, his Queen-side and King position are fortified - and he still has his lead in development.
