To my surprise, White is now winning.

Jan-30-22  Ulhumbrus: Carlsen appearing on the chess 24 website said that <Kasparov did not get any counterplay either>, perhaps referring to the game Karpov vs Kasparov, 1984

Superb play from Karjakin. He's rated 2743, and he has outplayed a 2727 GM.

We can thank Kasparov for its revival, some thirty years ago--though I do not recall whether he actually played it--after its having fallen into desuetude early in the last century, though White avoided main lines with his eighth move.

offramp: 1-0. Very well played, by that crazy Russian. At around move 17 I was expecting a quick draw. He kept on keeping going on.

HeMateMe: This seemed a draw at the start of the rook + bishop ending but karjakin understood this position better than his opponent.
