fredthebear: As old as this line of the Italian Game is, I was surprised to see that this game is the only 13.RxBa1 in the database. Instead, 13.Re1 and 13.Ne5 have been played a few times.

Today, yesterday, and who knows how far back, Black knows to play 9...d5 instead of 9...Bxc3?

fredthebear: About 18 years later, Greco played this same opening: Greco vs NN, 1624

Greco must have wrote more about it to have the line named after him. It's known that Greco copied Polerio's material.
