piltdown man: I thought Euwe never beat Lasker, this is a nice surprise!

MissScarlett: The game isn't in Whyld's 1998 collection; it was added to the DB in 2014, so a source would be nice. Lasker undertook an extensive exhibition tour in the Netherlands in Jan-Feb 1920, which, with addition of another couple of dates in Sweden and Germany, was his only chess activity that year.
Sep-10-17  Magpye: I believe this game was first presented in <Emanuel Lasker Denker Weltenburger Schachweltmeister> by Forster and others.

FSR: Lasker often took Black on some boards, unusually for the player giving the simul. Playing White in a simul given by Lasker is the only way Euwe could have a snowball's chance in hell against Lasker, who was 3-0 against him in tournament games, even when Euwe was world champion. http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches...
May-19-19  Gejewe: <Magpye> Correct, the game can be found on page 112 of Emanuel Lasker - Denker Weltenburger Schachweltmeister. As source the newspaper "Telegraaf" of 21 febr. 1920 is indicated. Besides, the additional text learns us that during Lasker's tour Euwe played two other games with him, both drawn. Lasker is supposed to have won his first game against Euwe in a blitzmatch in honour of Lasker after the latters win at New York 1924 , and as source the clubmagazine "Clubnieuws VAS" 24 july p.174-176 is given. It seems that the author forgot Lasker's win from Mährisch Ostrau 1923 for a moment ;-) . On page 112 of the book there is also an additional gamescore from a consultation simul between Lasker - Euwe & C.Keijzer, a draw that has been published in the newspaper Telegraaf on 19 febr. 1920

OhioChessFan: Anyone else think White was going to play 32. Rh8?

Hi Ohio,

it would have worked but 32.Rh7 is better. Shows a coolness that held him in good stead 15 years when being attacked by the greatest tacticians in the game. (that will be Alekhine.)

Rook,Knight, Bishop and pawn in them positions always have mates lurking.

I know these things! G Chandler vs P Roberts, 1990

beatgiant: How many simul games between world champions have there been? I know this one, Capablanca vs Botvinnik, 1925, Karpov vs Botvinnik, 1964, Karpov vs Kasparov, 1975 ... Are there many more? If so, I might put them in a game collection.

MissScarlett: Boris Becker vs Kasparov, 2000 Though not a simul, and Becker wasn't a world champion, but he was a world #1.

Kasparov vs Sting, 2000 Sting wasn't a world champion either, but he was a <King of Pain>. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3l...

beatgiant: I'm not sure what kind of event that was in Leningrad 1975 (GMs vs. Young Pioneers - maybe not a simul), but there is also this game: Kasparov vs Smyslov, 1975 and I'm also not sure if that's from the same event as Karpov vs Kasparov, 1975 I listed above.
