Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-01-14  Karpova: This game is also given in the 'Wiener Schachzeitung', September-October 1905, pp. 311-312, http://anno.onb.ac.at/cgi-content/a... with a slightly different game score:

1.e4 e5 2.f4 exf4 3.Nf3 g5 4.h4 g4 5.Ne5 Nf6 6.Bc4 d5 7.exd5 Bg7 8.d4 Nh5 9.Nc3 O-O 10.Ne2 c5 11.Bxf4 cxd4 12.Nd3 Nd7 13.Qd2 Nb6 14.Bb3 a5 15.a4 Nxd5 16.Bg5 Qd6 17.O-O Be6 18.Nf2 Qb6 19.Bxd5 Bxd5 20.Rad1 g3 21.Nh3 Rfe8 22.Nxd4 Bxd4+ 23.Qxd4 Re2 24.Nf4 Nxf4 25.Rxf4 Rxg2+ 26.Kf1 Qe6 27.Rd2 Qh3 28.Rxg2 Qxg2+ 29.Ke1 Re8+ 30.Kd1 Bf3+ 31.Rxf3 Qxf3+ 32.Kd2 Re2+ 0-1

The game scores are identical, except for the inclusion of <14...a5 15.a4> in the WSZ game score (that's why it ends at move 32, not 31).

Which one is correct? To me it seems that the moves 14...a5 15.a4 make sense.

  mifralu: "Lasker's Chess Magazine Vol.2, June 1905, p.64-65" also gives <14...a5 15.a4>

MissScarlett: <Lasker's Chess Magazine> claims this was played in the Hamburg tournament, but, apparently, it was a one-off game between Leonhardt, as winner of the Master tournament, and Spielmann, champion of the Lower Elbe Chess Federation.

Is it certain that Spielmann here is Rudolf?
