Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-21-10  waddayaplay: Maybe he won on time
Aug-21-10  Shams: White's rabbit is unstoppable.
Aug-21-10  whiteshark: <Shams> Do you mean he'd pulled a rabbit out of his hat?
Aug-21-10  Robed.Bishop: What is white's response to 39... d4?
Aug-22-10  Shams: Hmm, 39...d4 40.Qc6 d3 41.Qf3 perhaps?
Aug-22-10  waddayaplay: Nice, yes, but I think then 41. ..Qa2 is OK.
Aug-23-10  Shams: I retract endorsement of white's simple win. :)
Aug-23-10  waddayaplay: Can never have too much white rabbit.. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WANN...

Eric Schiller: Trivia for y'all: White Rabbit was the song Phish used to introduce their onstage chess game against the audience (and, specifically, me) on 9/30/95.

HeMateMe: When all the FIDE delegates/on the chessboard/ get up and TELL you where to go/
Aug-24-10  Shams: <Eric Schiller> That's funny. I know for a while Trey and the boys were firing off 1.d4 d5 2.Bb5? but I suppose they were broken of the habit.

Eric Schiller: They thought 2.Bb5 was their invention and were disappointed when I told them it was the Portuguese Opening and there was a book on it. But I returned the game to Spanish territory with 2...Nc6.

One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small And the ones that mother gives you, don't do anything at all Go ask Alice, when she's ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits, and you know you're going to fall Tell 'em a hookah-smoking caterpillar has given you the call He called Alice, when she was just small
When the men on the chessboard get up and tell you where to go And you've just had some kind of mushroom, and your mind is moving low Go ask Alice, I think she'll know
When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's off with her head
Remember what the Dormouse said
Feed your head, feed your head

I don't remember any white rabbit way back then, except that it seems to appear in all the Vietnam war movies (the ones without John Wayne). I musta been watching the Lawrence Welk Show back then. Hee Haw hadn't come on the tele yet. Who remembers "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom"?

Has anyone noticed the demise of the cottontail rabbit in the USA this century? It's getting rare to see a rabbit, even along on a remote country road. Is it from the farm chemicals, climate change, George Bush, planned parenthood, or LysergSäure-Diäthylamid (LSD) going out of fashion for Opioids?
