Nov-16-16  ughaibu: This might be Losev's immortal, certainly it's my favourite Losev game.
Aug-28-24  Saniyat24: ...walked into a bar and they talked about the two Queens and their poor husbands...!

Teyss: Before User: OhioChessFan complains: I don't understand the pun. Song, TV series, film, book, gum inflammation? Which is consistent with the game since I also didn't understand how it was played.

OhioChessFan: I didn't get the pun reference, but it didn't scream, "Only Brits will get it.". Nice, instructive mating pattern.
Aug-28-24  faulty: well, the pun is beyond me as well. I tried to look for something deeper, but found nothing. Losev? los' in Russian is an elk, a moose
Dmitry? never heard of a famous bishop named Dmitry Kuznetsov? kuznets is a carpenter; kuznechik is a grasshopper 'bishop' in Russian is 'slon' - an elephant
'trud' is labor (Trud was one of the Soviet sport amateur organizations) 'trudny' is hard
Astrakhan suggests me nothing
Sicily, Lasker or Dunne - nothing; John Donne was only a priest

thus, if there is only a reference to the two aligned bishops, there are far better examples.

if there is some deeper meaning, the author of the title should enlighten us

Sep-09-24  Saniyat24: I think Black just had two good bishops...as simple as that, no pun intended :P
