tamar: Now Van Wely has to hope he can find a miracle. A blockade with King and bishop is not impossible because the White King is still not free to wander.
Jun-10-08  Rawprawn: Can white sac his B on a4 and still get in with K supporting the pawns?
Jun-10-08  TheGladiatres: This is not won yet...
Jun-10-08  deepthinker: <Mateo> sorry but what does that mean?
Jun-10-08  Greven: I read at Wikipedia, that the word "kibitzing" is a pejorative form of the word "analysis". I'll get a beer and start kibitzing soon.
Jun-10-08  Bumcrot: Wouldn't 58. Be6 have created zugzwang?
Jun-10-08  severus6: Carlsen wins. Van Wely's a-pawn isnt going anywhere.
Jun-10-08  TheGladiatres: Now it's won :)
Jun-10-08  Eurotrash: Dancing rook time
Jun-10-08  t3hPolak: Good game, fun to watch

Jun-10-08  TheGladiatres: Then Carlsen got something like 2784 in rating, and is 1 win from passing Moro and Kramnik(!!!).

tamar: Up to +2. Not perfect play, but perfect in places, and just the endgame training Magnus needs.
Jun-10-08  hitman84: Neatly done by the wunderkind!
Jun-10-08  whiteshark: True again: Endgames teach you chess!

An Englishman: Both of today's games featured very fine endgame play. I was thinking that the Rook ending was the best I've seen in years and if there was a Best Endgame prize, the competition is already over, yet now Carlsen produced a worthy competitor.

Now it's off to Spain-Russia (currently 1-0)..

Jun-10-08  minasina: http://www.chessdom.com/foros-aeros... this was live commentary with GM Vladimir Dimitrov
Jun-10-08  Udit Narayan: Carlsen played this game in the spirit of Fischer!
Jun-10-08  whiteshark: <Bumcrot: Wouldn't 58.Be6 have created zugzwang?> I think the moves are very similar, e.g. if <58.Be6 b4 59.axb4 a3 60.e5 Kf3 61.Kc3 Kf4 62.Kb3 Kxe5 63.Bc8>

you have the final position of the game. :D

Jun-10-08  Vollmer: Wow ...Amazing page . Hope to see more of these 'livecasts' soon .
Jun-10-08  cuendillar: <Now it's off to Spain-Russia (currently 1-0)..> Scored by Shirov against Jakovenko yesterday.
Jun-10-08  Tomlinsky: That was a rather slick display by the young 'un, very nicely played. <Udit Narayan> A similar thought crossed my mind.
Jun-10-08  groupoid: What could be the purpose of 38..g4?
Jun-10-08  groupoid: Van Wely played very well except for that move (in time trouble)
Jun-10-08  JohnBoy: I don't understand 22...Bb6. Does black really have to give back a pawn here?
