Kibitzer's Corner
May-13-09  Brown: What starts off as a Caro-Kann turns into a type of KIA against the French.

Though black makes headway on the Q-side, he finds no way to disrupt the K-side attack, and finds his Q is out of play.

After 32..Nxc6 33.Re8+ Kh7 34.Rxh8+ Kxh8 35.Qe8+ Kh7 the finish could be the prosaic 36.Qxc6, but there is a good chance that Bronstein would find 36.f6! Bxf6 <gxf6 37.Qxf7+ Kh8 38.Re1> 37.Rxf6! with a quicker and more attractive win.

May-13-09  WhiteRook48: what a great attack
May-14-09  Brown: <WhiteRook48> Agreed. In particular, white's moves 23-27 really create space for his pieces. Assiduously avoiding the Q exchange, allowing lateral movement of the a2 rook and freeing up the diagonals for his bishops with 26.e6! are really the highlights of this game.

One other side note. If 27..Bxf5, then white has a better game but not an immediate kill after 28.Nxg5 hxg5 and now 29.Be3 Be6! 30.Bxb8 Qxb8 or 29.Bxd5 Rbd8 30.Re5 with some more pressure.
