Gypsy: Well, I though that 51...Ke4 was winning. The game went differently though.
Oct-28-06  WarmasterKron: It seems Mamedyarov is better here, but presumably Judit will win on tiebreaks due to her two wins over Topalov?
Oct-28-06  Minister: This is happening when anyone is in time trouble... blundering...

If Shak win, are there a TIEBREAK for first place???

Oct-28-06  percyblakeney: Over now, 1-0.
Oct-28-06  s4life: Why didn't black play Ke4 at some point? it looked as though all white pawns were doomed.
Oct-28-06  adinospedro: why Sokolov did not resign?

Oct-28-06  ataturk: Good game by Memedyar...
Oct-28-06  crwynn: <Gypsy: Well, I though that 51...Ke4 was winning. The game went differently though.>

As I said on the tournament page, the breakthrough with h5, g6, e6 looked winning

Oct-28-06  mang00neg: <gypsy> it wasn't, the white king sneaks behind and takes out f7 and the e pawn queens if Kxf4 etc.
Oct-28-06  Minister: Now Judit and Shak shares 1-st place. Are there tiebreak games now? Does anyone know tournament rules?
Oct-28-06  JYMMI: Soko lost

ozchess: could someone tell me if there is another game on now please?
Oct-28-06  crwynn: <mang00neg: <gypsy> it wasn't, the white king sneaks behind and takes out f7 and the e pawn queens if Kxf4 etc.>

No, if the king went after f4, white sacrifices h&g pawns and queens the e-pawn; the black king could stay on the 4th rank after White played g5

Oct-28-06  crwynn: *couldn't* stay on the 4th rank....

Peligroso Patzer: <s4life: Why didn't black play Ke4 at some point? it looked as though all white pawns were doomed.> After 51. g5, if 51. ... Ke4, then, for example, 52. Kc4 Kxf4 53. Kd5 Kg4 54. Kd6 Kxh4 55. Ke7 and White wins. Mamedyarov did some very deep and accurate calculations before he played 45. Nd4.

  Gypsy: 51...Ke4 52.Kc4 Kxf4 53.Kd5...
Oct-28-06  mang00neg: <CRWynn> as much as I trust your analysis, when i played Kxf4, CM8000 played Kd5 and won by capturing on f7 and pushing the E pawn home.
