Oct-18-06		al wazir: The hard part was deciding whether to take with the ♗ or the ♘ first. I went with the ♗, because if black plays 31...Kf8 or Kh8 white can play either 32. Bxh7 or the Bxf7, with a threat of 33. Rg8+. But I was planning to play 34. Rag1 instead of exd6.

Oct-18-06		Marco65: I thought 31.exd6 (with the idea of 32.Qd4 winning the knight) was winning but I miscalculated. Black can play 31...Rxd6 32.Qd4 Qf6! 33.Qxc5 Qxg5 34.Qxd6 Qxh4+ 31...Rxd6 and 32...Qf6! seems to be the only good defence anyway, for instance: a) 32...f6 33.Nxg6 hxg6 34.Rxg6+ should win (if there's nothing better, 35.Qxc5 takes back the piece) b) 31...Qf8 32.Nxg6 fxg6 34.Rxg6+ hxg6 35.h7+ Kg7 36.Qxf8+ Kxf8 37.h8=Q+ with an easy mate

Oct-18-06		psmith: <AlWazir> Analysis with Fritz 5.32 seems to show that 34. Rag1 wins as well. The main line I have found is 34... Bf5 35. exd6! Qe4 36. Qg5! Qe4+ 37. f4 Qe2+ 38. Rg2 winning (threat of Qf6+).

Oct-18-06		MyCatPlaysChess: I missed that the white Queen can be pinned to the King along the h2-b8 diagonal. Without having a board in front of me, I was thinking that 34.Rg7 overloads the black queen allowing the white queen to penetrate on either f6 or f8... this plan fails to the pin 34... Qxe5!

Oct-18-06		percyblakeney: I thought it was tricky for a Wednesday. I looked at it for a minute and didn't see immediately what would follow after Kh8 and then guessed it all would start with e6 instead.

Oct-18-06		kevin86: I looked for the sac at g6 with the rook firsty,but then saw that if the rook were saved and the bishop and knight sac-ed it would be a formidable fighter. Add that to the subtle queen move to attack on the diagonal-and you have a quick KO.
