Mateo: <THE pawn: after Kh1 the only (logical) response I see ( and my comp agrees...or I agree with my comp. Whatever) is f5.> Yes but after 17... f5 18. ef Nf5 19. Nf5 Rf5 20. Nd4, White can make the exchanges you said Black should avoid. A difficult choice for Sokolov, because 17... f5 is the logical course.
Jan-21-06  bharatiy: sokolov look at clock, at the end he may go into time trouble
Jan-21-06  THE pawn: <Mateo> that explains in part why he takes so much time.
Jan-21-06  SEMENELIN: thnx <chessgames.com>
Jan-21-06  Ulhumbrus: Black has the Nb5 attacked three times while White has it covered but twice,so why does Black not win a piece? The reason is that Black has the N covered twice and not three times. This suggests that one answer to a faulty question is to point out the fault in the question.

tpstar: Wow, this game really slowed way down. Transmission OK?!

Black has an inferior but playable position; I wonder what Sokolov is calculating. But getting in time pressure against Topalov is probably a bad idea.

Jan-21-06  THE pawn: sok played d5
Jan-21-06  SEMENELIN: topalov shall win.
Jan-21-06  vampir: Sokolov decided to do not move to the end.

Jan-21-06  vampir: f4 and e5!
Jan-21-06  percyblakeney: I think d5 was bad and that Topalov is winning...
Jan-21-06  HoLySmOkE: maybe f4

Mateo: <Ulhumbrus> I am wondering what does mean Ulhumbrus?

Moondoll: Sokolov should have played f5, he's running low on time, Topolav is winning, and this should be fun to watch. hehehe (topa fan)
Jan-21-06  vampir: 18.f4 , 19.e5 and may be 20.Ba3
Jan-21-06  SEMENELIN: Ba3 is a nice move for topa just to make soko's position cramped.

  Mateo: <ketchuplover: I like 18.Ba3> I don't. 18. Ba3?! de.
Jan-21-06  PaulLovric: black will lose to time
Jan-21-06  SEMENELIN: sokolov could also counter attak.
Jan-21-06  martynrob: dont like ba3 gives counter play
Jan-21-06  percyblakeney: I think Topalov will play 18. exd5 first of all.
Jan-21-06  percyblakeney: Many nice threats possible later involving c4, Bf4/Ba3, Qe2 or Re1 and so on...
