Nov-27-05  Udit Narayan: A bit unexpected result, one might think
Nov-27-05  notyetagm: I don't think a London system setup is going to cut it at this level. White gets almost no opening advantage at all if Black knows what he is doing.

Mateo: Vallejo Pons got a small advantage in the ending until move 35. There he played 35. Kc3 allowing 35... d4!, a very good move as it gave Black a king side majority and suddenly a slightly better game.

Vallejo answered 36. Kd4? increasing Black's advantage, with the dfile and a highway on the hfile. Better seems 36. ed Bg2 37. Raa4 Bd5 (37... h4? 38. d5!) 38. Bc4.

39... Rg6 wins. White cannot defend the g3 pawn with 40. Rb3 Rd8; 40. Ra3 Rd8 41. Kc4 Bf1.

fredthebear: The great instructor <Mateo> was one move off. <35. Kc3> is 36.Kc3, etc.

Thank you Mateo! The exchange sacrifices sure helped to make this a most interesting finish!
