Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-14-05  lopium: 24. White to play and win. What a nice end's attack!
May-13-20  Cheapo by the Dozen: Nice finish. Puzzle material.

There should be a way to pun in German on "Rat mir ...", which equates to "advise me". But in English ... well, I imagine there's been some kind of "Over and Back" pun already, along with Yuri = Your or something like that.

Ah, I bet this hasn't been used before:

The Kholm Before the Bakh Rank Storm

Jun-22-21  Cheapo by the Dozen: I gather there's a bug that's posting the wrong pun as a GoTD title?
Jun-22-21  paradoxicalenigma: 25...Qd3 certainly isnt the craziest move to see by black, once the tactical motif available to white is realised, normal play ensues and material is equal. however a very nice knockout combination by white, puzzle material

FSR: We've certainly never seen that pun before.
Jun-22-21  Z legend 000000001: I'm pining for a pinning pun that's actually phun.
Jun-22-21  goodevans: <Cheapo?by?the?Dozen>, <paradoxicalenigma> "puzzle material".

Yes, indeed, but only White's last move. <25...Qd3> would have kept Black in the game, I think, but it's still tricky. I can't see a forced win after that although <26.Qa4> looks menacing.

Phony Benoni: By the way, are others having trouble submitting puns? I am getting this light gray box which will not allow me to add Game ID# / URL

Yes, I've had some cluners recently, but didn't think it had reached the level of outright banishment!

  al wazir: Black should have defended the back rank with 25...Rdd8, and if 26. Qe5, then 26...f6. Now white has nothing better than 27. Qe6+ Kf8 28. 28. Bxf6 Bxf6 29. Qxf6+ Kg8.

Jul-07-21  Brenin: Again? So soon?
Jul-07-21  thegoldenband: Chessgames.com seems to be trapped in a pun loop since late June -- we're either recycling puns from 2018, from the recent past, or both.

What gives? Has the site just given up on fresh puns, or is some script running while admin are on vacation, or what?

  FSR: Happy Groundhog Day!
Jul-07-21  Cheapo by the Dozen: Good thing that we've developed the custom of putting the actual submitted pun in the comments. :)

Even so, outright repeating a game or puzzle in a short time is not ideal ...

Jul-07-21  Cheapo by the Dozen: Wait -- are there perhaps no new GoTDs queued up??

That shouldn't be. I have dozens of unused submissions in, and I'm sure the same is true for multiple other folks too ...

Jul-07-21  Cheapo by the Dozen: Debugging note: On my Pun Submission List, this game appears with the title I submitted.
Jul-07-21  Cheapo by the Dozen: Bug in the voting booth: I was asked to judge this recent GoTD as a submission:

H Burdge vs Fine, 1940

Jul-07-21  Cheapo by the Dozen: By the way, the voting booth UI says there are >7000 submissions.
Jul-07-21  thegoldenband: I think something's going on with the site, but I have no idea what it is. Some maintenance clearly went on recently -- we saw a couple minor changes like the color of the puzzle diagrams -- so maybe something got broken or left on autopilot.

301 of them are mine.

Jul-09-21  Cheapo by the Dozen: <FSR>,

You're way ahead of me. I doubt I have more than 50 or 60 pending.
