wwall: Actually Paradise Won and Wall lost because of the 33.g3 wall that came crumbling down after 33...Nxh4. Perhaps 33.Qg1 Nxh4 34.Qc1 with a better Wall resistance.

Earlier, 22.Ba3? allowing 22...e4 was bad. Maybe 22.Rab1 was best.

Apr-02-25  goodevans: <17.d4> was a nice move by White, freeing up his hitherto cramped position. Of course, Black can't take the pawn with either of his as either way he'll lose his N but Black could have stopped 17.d4 simply by playing ...g5 a move earlier.

Getting back on even terms seems to have gone to White's head as he embarked on the materialistic <21.Nb5?!> adventure. Winning a R+2Ps for 2 minors may look like a good deal but it allowed Black to reestablish a bind from which White couldn't escape a second time.

offramp: I am sure that everyone has read <Paradise Lost> by Milton.

I read that book at school, a textbook from 1967.

I remember this section from Book VII:

<Dismounted, on the Aleian field I fall,
Erroneous there to wander, and forlorn.
Half yet remains unsung, but narrower bound
Within the visible diurnal sphere;
<URGENT SECRET MESSAGE FOR GIORGIO PAPADOPOULOS
FROM GREEK COMMUNIST PARTY IN LONDON
INSURGENTS IN ALBANIA 45 N 66.8 E
PREPARE SPECIAL FORCES IN HERAKLION
TWELFTH OF DECEMBER 8PM.>

Standing on earth, not rapt above the pole,
More safe I sing with mortal voice, unchanged
To hoarse or mute, though fallen on evil days.

To my knowledge, I am the only human that has read that excerpt.

Well, in fact 17...cxd4 is playable, as after 18.Ba3 black has 18...Bf6. But 17...g5 is better.
