FSR: Why is this piece of trash in the database? What a horrid game, and a correspondence game no less.
Sep-01-07  Peter Johnson Ng: White Queen on G3. Nice move la????

FSR: btw, I'll bet 3.Ne5? was a notation error by White (this was a correspondence game). Any normal person would play 3.e5. Unsurprisingly, this is the only game in the database with the ridiculous 3.Ne5.

  FSR: Who knows -- maybe White did play 3.Ne5 on purpose, intending 3...Nxe4 4.Nxf7! Kxf7 5.Qh5+ regaining the piece by force, since 5...Kf6? 6.Qf3+ Ke5? 7.d4+ is suicidal for Black. Instead, 5...g6 6.Qd5+ e6 7.Qxe4 d5 is fine for Black. After Pedersen's 3...d6, White should have bailed out with 4.Bb5+! Nbd7 5.Nxd7 Bxd7 6.Qe2=.
Oct-26-07  xeroxmachine: Hoho, too bad fer da qoon dem plaiers kant plai! Perhaps he thought fur doys abuut dat final muve LOLZ!
Jun-13-12  Abdel Irada: If this (correspondence) game score is anything close to correct, it lends new weight to the adage, "More time doesn't necessarily produce a better move."

offramp: For no good reason Correspondence Chess uses a difficult and error-inducing numerical notation system.

White's last move was 24.Qe3-g3, but the move sent in the envelope would have been 24.5373.

He might have confused this game with one of dozens of others he was playing. He might have intended 24.5363 and wrote it down wrong.

Or he might have written down the right move in such bad handwriting that his opponent was subsequently able to successfully demonstrate to an appeals judge that the move was as is given here.

It is all history now. Correspondence Chess is finished. No amount of fiddling with the scoring system will change that.
